Is there a particular kind of story that you like in a movie? A love story, a character study, stories like that. (I'm fond of character studies.)

Do you ever have one of those "a-ha" experiences with a certain actor? You know, when you're watching a performance of theirs and you realized they're someone you intend to keep an eye on.

To be honest, it's happened to me a few times. A lot of these instances would involve stars of Hollywood's Golden Age, but a few from recent years have slipped in as well. One example includes when I saw From Here to Eternity, one of the first films that got more into classic Hollywood. I was familiar with most of the stars of the film, but there was one I wasn't too familiar with. Good looking, nice physique, gentle smile...he certainly looked like the standard leading man of that time.

But his acting style was different from his co-stars', which got me more intrigued in him. This was my introduction to Montgomery Clift, an actor I now rank among my personal favorites.

Which actors took you a while to warm up to?

Exactly one year ago today, I saw a film that completely changed the way I saw films. The film in question? Steve McQueen's Shame. It very much opened my eyes to other films that were just as raw and unflinching. (For some strange reason though, I haven't seen it since that day.)

Anyway, my question to you, dear readers, is this: is there that one film you contribute to the way you watch movies?

Boy, I managed to get one hell of a response out of this post when I shared it on Twitter late last night. To sum it up nicely, I saw The Heiress on Broadway, and got autographs from its two stars Jessica Chastain and Dan Stevens. (My favorite response was from Stevee: "CRYING. CRYING SO MANY ENVIOUS TEARS.")

Anyway, my question to you, fellow readers, is this: are there any celebrities you want to meet?

I'm on vacation down here in Cape Cod for the next two weeks or so, depending how things pan out. It's all right, but the lack of internet service where I'm staying nearly gets me in a Jack Torrance kind of mood. Okay, maybe not that far but I get kind of twitchy. Recently news broke out that 3-D is becoming less popular among the masses. (Thank goodness!) I was never a fan of it to begin with and hearing it'll be dead in the water made me happy.

I ask you this: what's your opinion on 3-D?

I was asked this on Formspring the other day. Being uncreative at that time, I decided to save it for a more suitable audience.

If a book you recently read was to be adapted into a movie, who could you see as the main characters?

Pondering on Remakes

With all the remakes in production, it makes you wonder (and worry) if your favorite classic movie will be one of those remakes.

A number of classic film fans are, how should I put this, annoyed that The Thin Man is getting remade with Johnny Depp as Nick Charles. I have to admit that Depp doesn't have the same charm William Powell had.

Kevin, someone I follow and talk to on Twitter, just hated the news of Seven Samurai getting the remake treatment again. He also doesn't approve of how Baz Luhrmann is going with that adaptation of The Great Gatsby, but that's for another post.

Knowing my devotion to it, you can tell that I will be pissed if Sweet Smell of Success gets remade. If that happens, I will be crying, screaming and plotting to kill the yutz of a producer who's behind the production.

Which movie(s) would you hate to see remade?

Considering the immense lack of originality Hollywood is going through, it almost makes you want to make your own movie. Anomalous Material has already done something like that twice with their Hollywood Fantasy Drafts, but what I'm going to ask is slightly similar to what they did.
